One of the ways for you to make money online is to create a webpage that will convert very well on an affiliate offer. The idea is that the overall cost to you for directing traffic to this page will be less than the payout that you will receive when someone follows through with the affiliate deal. Pay pennies to get traffic and get paid dollars when visitors convert.
While some people may populate these webpages with long sales letters, it can sometimes be much more effective to have a simple landing page. Instead of spending the time to make your own landing page, it might be more cost-effective to simply order one from Dirt Cheap Landing Pages, which serves as the subject of this review.
Professional Designs for Low Prices
There are two reasons why these landing pages are priced so low. First, the designs are good quality, but relatively simple. If you look at the Netflix landing page, for example, all you see is a guy on a computer (probably stock photography) and some basic text against a stylized red background. The text is fairly minimal, so it looks like your standard ad creative rather than a full-blown landing page.

The second reason why these landing pages are so cheap — typically $30 each — is that Dirt Cheap Landing Pages sells each creative a total of ten times. This means that for each design that they create, they earn $300. Thankfully, you don’t have to worry about having the exact same ringtone landing page as everyone else, because each purchase is accompanied by the appropriate PhotoShop (PSD) file. This way, you can make changes as you see fit.
Custom Landing Pages Too
That’s all well and good, but you may not want to bother tweaking one of the premade landing pages to suit your needs. You’d rather have someone else create a completely original landing page for you. If that’s the case, Dirt Cheap Landing Pages also offers custom designs. These go for $100 and will not be sold to anyone else.
You probably shouldn’t expect your custom landing page to be 100% original, as it will likely bear some similarities to other landing pages. It should be unique enough, though, to stand out from the premade designs offered by Dirt Cheap Landing Pages.
Who Are You?
Before I make any purchase from an unfamiliar website, I usually take a gander at their About page to see who they are. I’ll also do a quick Google search to see if there are any reviews or customer experiences that are worth reading. That’s why I find it a little disconcerting that the Dirt Cheap About page is comprised of just two sentences.

It would be a good idea to have a more comprehensive About page, because customers want to know who they’re buying from. What are your credentials? What experience do you have in graphic and web design? Why should I buy from you and not the other guy down the street.
Furthermore, when you hit up any of the live demos for the landing pages, you’ll notice that there are several paragraphs below the main image. Most talk about getting credit reports. This shows up on every demo, like the Health Insurance landing page below. The GameFly demo has a different set of unrelated text.

I’m not sure what purpose this text is supposed to serve? Is it just to show that buyers can add their sales pitch after the fact?
Affiliate Program and Payouts
If you’re interested in landing pages and making money online, then there’s a good chance that you’d be interested in affiliate programs too. Thankfully, Dirt Cheap Landing Pages has one of those too. The affiliate program is handled through E-Junkie and you get 25% of all sales. Payment is sent via PayPal with 15 days of month end. In case your math is a little fuzzy, a $30 sale would then result in a $7.50 commission. A $100 custom design would result in $25 in your virtual pocket!

Today, we head to the headquarters of Segway of British Columbia to ride the two wheel wonder machine known as the Segway. The Segway was suppose to change the way we get around. It didn’t do that but it is one hell of a fun gadget. With gas prices the way it is, Segway sales have been on the upswing. The battery powered Segway uses no gas, has extremely low CO2 emission and can go 40KM on a single charge.
In BC, and most of Canada and the United State, Segways are illegal to operate on the street. However, the chance of being pulled over by the cops is pretty slim, unless you’re doing something really stupid with it. The cops themselves ride Segways on some of their routes so giving you a ticket for riding one would be pretty self defeating.
Joining Sarah and me for this Dot Com Segway trip was Stephen Fung and Michael Kwan. Everyone else was at work. We really need more people to join the Dot Com Lifestyle. A big thanks goes out to Larry Runnalls of Segway of BC for arranging this event for us.

Now, this looks like a quiz that I would have made. You know, me being evil and all. There are many ways to measure a person’s worth but for the life of me, I have yet to figure out the worth of a soul. I know it’s worth a lot to the devil since he offers a lot in exchange for it. Well, now you can find out how much the devil values those souls with a new site call How Much Is Your Soul Worth?
By answering 15 simply questions that range from “Do you help old ladies across the street, or kick them when they fall over?” to “If you had a choice between having lot of money and no love in your life, or lots of love and no money, which would you choose?” How Much Is Your Soul Worth will be able to tell you how much the devil is willing to pay for it.
How Much Is My Soul Worth?
After answering all 15 questions, How Much Is Your Soul Worth told me that my soul was worth $666,666 soul dollars.
I’m not exactly sure how many US dollars it takes to make a soul dollar. At any rate, I’m not happy with the worth of my soul. I’m sure it’s worth more than that. I think the devil is trying to low ball me.
I think what’s more interesting than finding out how much your soul is worth is answering the questions. The choices of answers are very interesting to say the least. I would love to find out how my readership would answer those questions. Maybe I’ll make each questions as a future blog post and ask readers to answer it. I’m sure it’ll create a lot of discussion. In the mean time, how much is your soul worth? Let me know in the comments.

Vancouver bloggers descended on The Black Water Cafe last night for the 39th Vancouver Blogger Meetup. As meetups goes, this was one of the biggest yet, with 34 bloggers attending. The poor Black Water Cafe was pretty much overwhelmed. Had I known the place was this small, I wouldn’t have pushed the meetup so hard. It was standing room only.
The Vancouver Blogger Meetup brings local bloggers together to talk about issues that deals with bloggering. It’s actually quite refreshing because most of the discussions center around blogging for fun and not for making money. This meetup was also special because it represented the passing of the sword. The current meetup organizer, Isabell, has decided to retire and give the role to Rual. I’m sure he’ll do a great job with it.
Networking is a big part of my success as a blogger. The contacts you make at networking events really can take your blog to the next level. The worst thing that can happen is you make some new friends. My next event stop will be in Boston for the Affiliate Summit East. If anyone wants to meet up before the big show, give me a shout.

One of the major advantages of the new Performancing Ads network is they allow you to sell your own ads and use them to serve it for free. If you already have some 125×125 buttons sold privately, it’s very easy to add them to Performancing Ads. And it won’t cost you anything because Performancing Ads does not take a cut of your private ad sales. If you are like me and have every single button sold, then you can use Performance Ads to serve the buttons, keep all the money and still be listed in their publisher marketplace.
Being listed in the Performancing Ads marketplace exposes your blog to 1000’s of potential advertisers. If you’re having trouble making private ad sales, signing up with Performancing Ads may just be the ticket. Remember, using performancing Ads does not prevent you from selling the ad space yourself. You can still do that and use Performancing Ads to serve it. Here’s a screen cast on how to book your own private ads into Performancing Ads.

My blogging buddy Yaro Starak has posted two new videos showing exactly how he makes money from blogging. The first video shows how Yaro makes his money. The second video shows how much he makes. It’s kinda like a video version of my blog income report.
The videos are part of Yaro’s launch of his Blog Mastermind program, which opens tomorrow at 10AM Eastern Standard Time. Blog Mastermind is a coaching / mentoring program for aspiring bloggers who want to earn big money by blogging part time. Very few part time bloggers make full time income. Hell, very few full time bloggers make full time income! Blog Mastermind will teach you step-by-step how to create that full time income with part time blogging. I know it can be done because I’m doing it right now.
The last time Yaro opened Blog Mastermind, he put on a limit on the number of bloggers he accepted into the program. He won’t be closing the door or capping the program this time around. However, Yaro will have some fast-action bonuses for the first 100 people who sign up at 10AM tomorrow.
How Much Does Blog Mastermind Cost?
The Blog Mastermind program has six months worth of training plus a members resources area and online community. You can participate in two ways.
Option 1 - Pay $97 for the first month, try it and if you like it, continue to pay $97 a month for six months total. You will have immediate access to the member resources and online community and receive one lesson per week until you graduate in six months.
Option 2 - Pay $497 upfront, save yourself $85 and get access to all the materials at once. You get instant downloads for all the lessons, the member resources and access to the online community.
There’s also a third “all you can eat” option, where you get all of the Blog Mastermind content (all of option 2 above) plus a second course, Membership Site Mastermind (currently not available to the public), which is Yaro’s coaching program for people who want to start a membership site using a blog as a launch pad.
Enroll for Blog Mastermind and You Could Win a Slingbox PRO

If you’re ready to taking your blogging to the next level, then you should definitely consider Yaro’s Blog Mastermind program. As a bonus, readers enrolling for Blog Mastermind via John Chow dot Com will be entered into a draw for a Slingbox PRO.
The Slingbox PRO allows you to watch and control up to four video sources, including one HD video source, from anywhere in the world on your laptop or cell phone. That means you can virtually take your entire home theater with you and watch it anywhere you want. It’s perfect for the mobile blogger who wants to keep up with his TV shows while on the road.
When you think about it, $497 for a six month long course is a really great deal. I’ve paid more than that for a single day business course. However, because everyone wants everything to be free on the Internet, I’m only expect people who are serious about their blogging to sign up for Blog Mastermind. That means your chances of winning the Slingbox PRO is very high. Good luck!

Tomorrow is the night for bloggers in Vancouver to meet up, drink, dine and network. We will be meeting at The Black Water Cafe at 280 Carrall Street in downtown Vancouver at 7PM. So far, 25 people have confirmed for the event. I’m not sure how the cafe is going to react to that but it’s their fault for accepting us! Actually, I’m sure they’ll be very happy with the exposure this will give them.
If you wish to join us for this meeting for Blogger minds, then please RSVP here. The RSVP deadline is 11:30PM tonight. See you there! I hope the Black Water has WiFi.

One Upping The Shoe
Shoemoney posted that he recently passed the 60,000 comments mark. That’s a lot of comments for any blog. Of course, it also made me check how many comments my blog has.

Better luck next time, Shoe.

There’s a new search engine in town and it’s pretty Cuil. Cuil is a stealth search engine startup which claims that it can index web pages significantly faster and cheaper than Google. Cuill has told potential investors that their indexing costs will be 1/10th of Google’s, based on new search architectures and relevance methods.
Cuil was founded by the husband and wife team and Tom Costello and Anna Patterson. They were joined by Russell Power. Patterson and Power are ex-Google search experts. Costello was the founder of Xift. With that kind of credentials, it wasn’t hard to raise $30 million in start up funding.
Is It a Better Google?
Cuil claims to have 121,617,892,992 web pages indexed, more than any other search engine. It’s also taking on a very evil (stealth?) look with it’s all black background. It’s really too early to tell if Cuil can be a better Google since it’s only 24 hours old. However, it is nice to see that Cuil ranks me number 1 for John Chow. All the other searches I’ve performed on it produced pretty good results as well. I especially like the related categories, which return results that are extremely relevant.
Give the new search engine a try and tell me what you think. Let’s hope Cuil makes it because we need something to prevent Google from taking over the Internet.
BTW - Don’t misspell Cuil by switching the i and the l or you’re end up a porn site.

Harrison Gervirtz, Teen Entrepreneur
OK Folks, another great interview for you.
If you have not already heard of Harrison Gervirtz then I am sure you will be hearing a lot more about Harrison soon.
CHECK OUT THE INTERVIEW HERE:
Interview with Amazing young entrepreneur Harrison Gervirtz
Some fantastic advice - like:
What advice would you give to a Teen Entrepreneur starting their first make money website?
Don’t hire your friends. I have friends ask me for ways to make money & jobs all the time. I don’t like to get my friends involved because it usually ends bad. When I just started out online I would get friends involved & they usually just wasted my time and money
and
For someone new to Affiliate Marketing (a publisher) - who wished to become a successful affiliate, is there anything in particular that you would suggest that they do not do?
Some beginner affiliates tend to go in over their head when they start out. They do this by spending to much time on little things and not just launching the campaign! A Quick Do-Not-Do Tip would be to not spend to much putting emphasis on just one part of a campaign. Make sure you focus on all the aspects of a campaign: The Offer, Your Landing Page, Ads, Keywords, Bids, Negative Keywords, CTR, Conversion Rates, & Tracking/Analytics.
