Checking Out Boston

On our last day in Boston, we decided to check out the city. Boston is the oldest city in the USA and one of the most beautiful. It reminds me a lot of Vancouver, only the Boston harbor is a lot bigger than Vancouver’s Coal Harbour.

We took a 90 minute cruise of the Harbor, ate lunch at a Twitter enable bar, checked out the USS Constitution, tour the city and dined on oysters and lobsters for dinner before taking the subway back to our hotel.

The USS Constitution is the oldest commissioned warship in the world that is still afloat. The UK has a commissioned warship that is 70 years older than the 211 year old Constitution. However, the UK boat is on dry dock and no longer floats. The Constitution was given the nickname “Old Ironsides” but it’s made entirely of wood. Watch the video to find out how it got its nickname.

Affiliate Summit East - Win Cash Money

That Market Leverage Cashinator that I featured in my first show floor video gave me an idea for a contest post. Since I’ve been inside the Cashinator already, I figure I can grab a lot more cash than the $17 I made the first time.

Affiliate Summit East - Meet The Networks

Here’s a video featuring some of the affiliate networks I talked to during my walk of the Affiliate Summit East show floor. With over 100 companies on the floor, it’s impossible to feature them all. Therefore, I’ve limited the video to networks that I personally know and had dealt with.

I asked each network to give me a 30 seconds elevator pitch on what set their network apart and why you should join them. Some exceeded the 30 seconds and some took less than 10. Which network do you think gave the best pitch?

Affiliate Summit East - The Show Floor

The show floor on the Affiliate Summit has over 100 booths for you to check out. Pretty much any company that has anything to do with the affiliate marketing industry in here. It’s a great way to catch up with some of the ad networks that I deal with and meet new ones.

With so many knowledge sessions going on though out the show, finding time to walk the show floor can be a daunting task. However, we managed to find an hour in between the sessions to check out the floor. Here’s a video highlight featuring the Market Leverage “Cashinator” and a few other stuff. Affiliate Summit East - Share A Sale Party

After the lobster feast with Ian, it was time to hit a party aboard the Odyssey. Share A Sale booked the big boat for a private, opening night party. When I first picked up my tickets for the party during the ASE Meet Market, I thought I wouldn’t be able to make it because of my dinner with Ian. However, it turns out the Odyssey would be docked for the entire party so we could show up at anytime.

One thing I have to give to Share A Sale. They know how to put on a good party. The bar was open, there was a nice spread of food and a live band. They even had a chocolate fondue setup. A few people got a little out of hand with that. Watch and video and you’ll see.

Affiliate Summit West - IANternet Dinner

Here’s a video from the dinner with Ian Fernando last night. Ian invited a bunch of fellow affiliates and bloggers to help celebrate the launch of his IANTernet Media Network. Dinner was held at Anthony’s Pier 4, just a block from the Seaport World Trade Center.

Anthony’s Pier 4 is pretty famous. The walls are lined with pictures of famous people who’ve dined there. They include movie stars and heads of states. I guess they can now add dot com moguls to the list. After that dry and tasteless lobster from the Seaport Bar and Pub, it was nice to experience what a proper Boston lobster should taste like. A big thanks goes out to Ian for setting up the get together.

The Winners of The Blog World Expo Passes

At the start of the month, I offered two full conference passes to Blog World Expo, the world’s largest blogging and new media trade show. I want to thank all the bloggers who entered the contest. Today, myself and a bunch of other bloggers at the Affiliate Summit press room went over all the entries to select the two winners.

Affiliate Summit East - Day 1

One of the main focus of the Affiliate Summit is face to face networking. To make sure affiliate have lots of face time with affiliate networks, the show features a Meet Market on the opening day. Merchants have tables set up to meet with affiliates to discuss their affiliate programs and build relationships. Vendors that cater to affiliates and merchants also have tables to share information about their products and services.

In addition to the Meet Market, day 1 features knowledge sessions from leading affiliate companies and marketers. The highlight session was put on by John Hasson with his speech entitled, Which PPC Engines Work And How?

Tonight, we have a dinner party with Ian Fernando and then a party with Share a Sale aboard some big boat call the Odyssey. I thought we would be taking a cruise of the harbor but apparently, the boat is just going to be docked so people can come and go as they please. Look for more coverage tomorrow.

More Mobile Gadgets for Mobile Dot Com Moguls

Back in May, I showed you a couple of gadgets that I bring with me when I’m on the road. While the Dot Com Lifestyle allows me to run my blog from anywhere in the world, I can’t do that if I’m not packing the right equipment.

Since I’m on the road again and won’t back home until August 25th, I figured I’ll show you two more items from my laptop bag. One of these days, I will show everything that is in my laptop bag. However, the gadgets keep changing all the time. So, even if I showed everything, it will be for that time period only. Still, it may make for an interesting article.

Off To Affiliate Summit East

Right now, Sarah and I are aboard a plane on our way to Boston for the Affiliate Summit East. It seem like only yesterday that I got back from the Top Affiliate Challenge and now I’m flying out again. At least I’m going to a more happening city this time.

The Affiliate Summit is the biggest affiliate marketing trade show in the world. This is the first time that the show has been held in Boston and I’m really looking forward to it. If you see me on the show floor, make sure you say hi!

We will be staying in Boston for a few extra days after the show. I hear some great things about the city and want to check it out. If you live, or have been to Boston, maybe you can recommend some places for me to go. I will be going for a lobster dinner for sure.
